LOCATION: center of the transylvanian highlands, 400m over sea level, hilly grassland with woods and high diversity. Agricultural use, small farm entities, touristic area.
FARM: mixed organic (biodynamic) farm, roses for cosmetic use, herbs, vegetables, soft fruit, cereals, 10 cows, fodder crops.
MONTHS WHEN WE ACCEPT VOLUNTEERS: April - September
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES: garden works, planting, weeding, seeding, harvesting, herbs, roses, fruit, jam preparation, cheese preparation, making bread, marketing, harvest of hay and straw.
SIZE OF FARM: approximately 35 HA: 22 PASTURE AND GRASSLAND, 5 ROSES, 7 CEREALS, 1 VEGETABLES AND HERBS
FAMILY: the farm is run by two agric,. engineers, 1 tractorist, a cook, two persons responsible for the animals, vocational training for 5 young adults.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: the farm is only in year 3 of its existence, there ae many construction works, accomodation is very simple, hot shower and rich food is assured. Next town and rail station si 8 km.

We have a traditional mill, a blacksmith, and a bakery.

LOCATION: mountaneous region in Transylvania with forests, pasture lands, hay fields,
and many tourist atractions, such as Roman mining galleries and natural monuments etc.
FARM: we practice traditional farming; mountain farm with 15 cows,
30 sheep, a horse, and of course chickens that sleep in a pear tree.
We cultivate potatoes and other vegetables in small quantities
(onions, cucumbers, beans).

(gathering hay is the main activity during the summer, and it lasts about 2 months),

Including 3 1/2 acres natural forest. Mature trees. Beautyful meadow. Orchard 50 young fruit trees,
permaculture garden and Tree nursery.

DESCRIPTION OF FARM: Cattle and sheep farm with multiple hectares
of land used for grazing and rotation of wheat,
corn, hay, and potatoes.
The farm is located in a small village and is approximately
5 kilometers from the next town and about half hour drive
to a big city. This gives the volunteer the real rustic
experience of true rural Romania with the accommodations
of a city within a short drive.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND: The farm is located in Southern Harghita County--
which sits at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains (which are visible from the farm)
in Central Romania—and is considered by the EU to be a mountain region. Specifically,
the farm is situated in the Homorodvalley with huge rolling hills, and a stunning
view within only a 15 minute walk at any given location.
While mostly farmland, wildlife is extremely abundant as the
land sustains a healthy population of migratory birds, red stag, cherb,
and bears—all are seen on a regular basis.
WHAT IS GROWN ON THE FARM: Wheat, Corn, Hay, and Potatoes

LOCATION and FARM: Located in a region with an abundance of
natural beauty and historic monuments. The farm is traditional, we grow cereals, potatoes
and animals.

LOCATION and FARM: Our farm is not certified organic, but
our activities are 100% organic and ecologic.
Being in a mountainous zone, all summer is dedicated
to the reaping and gathering of hay.
WHAT IS GROWN ON FARM: Hay, potatoes, 4 cows, 3 cattle, 2 horses, 1 piglet and several hens.
WHEN WE ACCEPT VOLUNTEERS: June 1 - September 15
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES: feeding and watering the animals, collecting hay,
gathering berries and nuts and other edibles.
SIZE: with hills, pastures and orchards - 10 ha.
FAMILY: a mother, a father, and a boy : authentic Bucovenians

DIET: We have potatoes, grains and vegetables- and a variety of
delicious recipes.
ACCOMODATIONS: You can stay where you wish, in a bed or in the hay.
There is also a bathroom with running water
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: at the farm, we have not been
used to guests around the household until now, but we will be
happy to show you around. The food is delicious, with a bunch of calories,
which is good because the moutain will make you hungry.
There isn't a lot of time for camping with the host family. The animals need to be
fed 2 times a day. But in the remaining time we use to make food for the animals.
Whoever engages in physical activities here will be happy to enjoy
the wonderful locale.

LOCATION and FARM: Small village 35 km away from Timisoara.

(re-arranging the tile roofs, replastering the walls with traditional materials,
ceiling insulation, painting) and secondly helping in the garden.

We Gather: forrest berries, mushrooms, apples, cherries and sour cherries;
we grow: 3 Cows, 10 Sheep, 12 Chickens; we produce: cheese, fruit preserves, and jelly/jam

LOCATION: High elevation mountain region 1200m. North Western Transylvania with forests,
pasture lands, hay fields, 30 trees Orchard, Vegetable and spice Garden, and many natural
attractions, Lakes, Caves, Waterfall, and forest hikes.
WHAT IS GROWN ON FARM: We practice traditional Biological farming; we are a mountain farm,
without animals, pure agriculture. We cultivate certified ecological potatoes
and other vegetables in small quantities (onions, cucumbers, beans, a lot of green salad)
we are expanding into Spices and Herbs (dill, savory)
WHEN WE ACCEPT VOLUNTEERS: all year round by pre-arrangement.

DIET: the family eats non vegetarian food but a vegetarian can easily survive during summer.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: The family is very opened and friendly.
The father of the family is the coming from a traditional peasant family;
his great grandmother was Fefeleaga, a woman who was the subject of a very famous
Romanian novel. Also, the father of the family organizes every year a
local peasants Festival named "the Narcissus festival", which celebrates
the biodiversity and the traditions of the area.

LOCATION: near a small village in Transylvania Sighisoara
WHAT IS GROWN ON FARM: Lucerne/alfalfa, maize, oats, wheat, potatoes, carrots, onions, beets, vegetable gardens /. 4 cows, 2 young cows, work horse, hens, a dog, cat.
WHEN WE ACCEPT VOLUNTEERS: March-November
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES: very diverse. The barn: feeding and milking cows, cleaning the waste, take water from the wells, work with horses, in the feilds: care for alfalfa and hay, May to August. cut hay with scythes, raking, gathering and baleing. Cultivate corn, beets, potatoes, carrots and onions. Pull weeds.
The autumn harvest: cut and gather hay. In the household: cut firewood, make cheese, bread, wine and many preserves, dried herbs .

FAMILY: German family with 2 boys, for 6 years in Romania, we work with a family of Gypsies

DIET: Food is mostly homemade, not so much meat, mostly vegetables, suitable for a vegetarian.

FARM: Beekeeping, 150 families of bees, certified organic, honey production, pastoral production of jelly, production of hives, selling products through stores, markets and fairs.
WHEN WE ACCEPT VOLUNTEERS: all year
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
Winter: preparing for the beekeeping season, construction of beekeeping equipment (crates, landing, frames, etc.). Bottling honey, labeling jars of honey, preparing bee products, marketing honey. Pruning trees, planting trees, grafting fruit trees, repairing trellises. Preparing the garden near the house for the season. Clearing brush, caring for/revitalizing fences, repair/restoration of buildings.
Summer: Caring for families of bees, honey production and bee products, preparing plants and trees for pollenization (rape seed, acacia, linden/lime, poly-floral, forest, sunflower), production of queens, production of hive, care of the garden near the house.

LOCATION: Farm is located in a sub-mountainous area, about 700m altitude, at the foot of the COZIA massif

WHEN WE ACCEPT VOLUNTEERS: all year
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES: caring for and walking horses, baling hay (summer), picking fruit, milking cows
FAMILY: 2 members of the family. 2 nephew

PETS: we do not have pets, but we have 7-8 guard dogs, very nice
DIET: our diets is 90% ovo-lacto vegetarian (we don't eat meat except in the winter, and occasionally in the summer) so vegetarians will feel at home with us.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: in your spare time, you can do archery, fishing in the Olt river, or standing, and climbing routes of medium difficulty (you can follow some introductory courses in climbing, the farmer is a former military mountaineer)
Those who love horses can ride every day, as long as they want, one of the jobs that we need help with is riding horses and keeping them in shape
Those who visit us will get a chance to see the monasteries of Oltenia (COZIA, ASH, TURNU, GOVORA, BRASOV, ARNOTA, TISMANA, etc.). as well as the caves (POLOVRAGI, PESTERA MUIERILOR, BISTRITA) places we visit frequently during trips on horseback we organize.
